Template guide

Edit and publish in Canva

Everything you need to make your Dear June templates yours. Tap a section to open it.

01Getting started
  1. Open the template link from your PDF.
  2. Sign in or sign up. A free Canva account is enough.
  3. Click Edit template.
  4. Your own copy opens in the editor. You can find it later under Projects on canva.com.
02Edit text and fonts
  1. Double-click the text and type.
  2. Change the size with the number in the top bar, or use + and –.
  3. Click the font name to pick another font.
  4. Click the color square to change the text color.
03Move and resize
  1. Click an element, then drag it.
  2. Use the arrow keys for small moves.
  3. Drag a corner point to resize.
  4. Hold Shift and click to select several elements. Use Position to align them.
If an element will not move, it may be locked. Click the lock icon or right-click and choose Unlock.
04Clickable objects

Clickable elements, such as the envelope, are made by placing a transparent object with a link on top of them.

To edit anything that is part of a clickable object, such as text or a photo:

  1. Move the transparent object aside first.
  2. Make the changes you need.
  3. Move the transparent object back so it covers the same area again.
If the envelope stops opening after your edits, check that the transparent object is back on top and covers the whole envelope.
05Change photos
  1. Open Uploads in the left menu and add your photo.
  2. Drag it onto the old photo to replace it.
06Colors and fixed elements

You can edit text, text colors, backgrounds and photos.

Some artwork, such as the envelope and cards, is a fixed image and keeps its design. If Canva shows a crown on an element, it needs Canva Pro. Replace it with a free element.
07Preview on desktop and mobile
  1. Click Preview to see how your changes will look.
  2. Click the icons at the top to switch between desktop and mobile view.
  3. Close the preview to keep editing.
Check both views after every change.
08Publish and share
  1. Click Publish in the top right corner.
  2. Choose your free canva.site address.
  3. Click Publish website.
  4. Copy your link and send it by WhatsApp, email or text.
You can publish safely at any time. If you make changes later, edit your design and click Publish again to update your website.
Before you send your link to guests, always check how your website looks on both desktop and phone.
09Bonus: link preview image

This is the image guests see when you share your link. Size: 1200 × 630 px.

  1. Open the bonus template from your PDF.
  2. Click Edit template.
  3. Edit the photo, text and background.
  4. Click Share, then Download, and save it as PNG.
  5. Open your website in Canva and click Publish. A Settings button appears.
  6. In Settings, tick Social media link preview.
  7. Click the small trash icon in the top right corner of the current image.
  8. Click Choose file and select the PNG you exported.
  9. Publish your website again.
